The April UASC meeting is this Wednesday, April 27th.
We will have two speakers this evening;
First we will have a short presentation by Steve Arnam, long time UASC member, on the U-853 German submarine sunk in WWII. Steve has been a frequent presenter at Our World Underwater. His presentation is part of a series that we have been encouraging our members to do to help share the knowledge our member's possess to the rest of the membership. Please consider what you might be able to contribute as part of this series and let myself, or Jim Jarecki know.
We, of course, welcome our feature speaker of the evening, Joan Forsberg. Joan is past President of the UASC, member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame, author and an editor of Wreck Diving magazine. She will talk about the book she and her husband Cris Kohl wrote on La Salle's ship, the Griffon, which disappeared in the Great Lakes in 1679. Maybe Joan will also give us a hint on what future books she and Cris are planning!
At our meeting we will also discover the winner of our new member raffle. The prize of which is a Great Lakes wreck diving charter!
UASC meetings take place the last Wednesday (except this month) of each month; refreshment and chatter start around 6:30 pm and the meetings begin at 7:00 pm. The Meetings are held at the Chicago Maritime Museum located at 1200 West 35th Street, Suite OE5010, Chicago, IL 60609. Free parking is available adjacent to the facility. Use the entrance next to the loading dock on the north side of the building (same side you will park on). The door is at ground level and the museum is on the lower level down the stairway.
Thanks,
Bob Rushman
UASC President
