The February UASC meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday, February 25th. UASC meetings are held at the Chicago Maritime Museum located at 1200 West 35th Street, Suite OE5010, Chicago, IL 60609. Free parking is available adjacent to the facility. Use the entrance next to the loading dock on the north side of the building (same side you will park on). The door is at ground level and the museum is on the lower level down the stairway.
As I mentioned last month, there are several major event coming up including Our World Underwater next weekend, February 27th - March 1, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. This is a major event for UASC so if you are attending the festival please stop by the booth and say hello.
Other upcoming events include the Ghost Ships Festival on March 13th and 14th in Milwaukee at the Crowne Plaza Airport and the Chicago Maritime Festival on April 18th at a new venue, the Old Town School of Folk Music. The UASC booth will also be set up at these events. We do offer a few incentives to new members who sign up during the shows so come and check us out.
The feature presentation this month will be from some of our members. Jim Jarecki and others will be discussing the life and wreck of the steamer Iowa which sank off Chicago 100 yeas ago February 4th.
If you are interested in participating in research activities or survey work come to a meeting and speak with some of the project leaders.
Hope to see you all at an upcoming meeting.
Thanks,
Bob Rushman
UASC President
